Head swap
I have a newer style vortec 350, 1996-up that was given to me used about a year ago. The motor has a Edelbrock performer vortec intake with a holley carb. She runs real good but is starting to smoke. I have this motor in my 65 chevy pickup. A real good buddy of mine has an older 350 motor that has been completely reworked, not sure all that has been done but the heads have been ported, polished, and the motor has a healthy cam. It too has a Edelbrock intake but I believe it is the performer rpm. He also has a Street Avenger carb. This motor sits in his 65 chevy pickup and it runs like a bat out of hell.
He is wanting to buy some after market heads, a larger cam, and a demon carb. I need to do at least a ring job on my motor. He told me that he would make me a real good deal with his heads, carb, and cam. Would those heads on his motor fit on my motor? What about the cam? These parts he has on are not that old. He just bought this truck and the motor is a fresh rebuild. I am not sure of the year of his motor. It is around a mid 70's year. They are both 350's. Thanks up front for any info. pan Register now (free) or login to remove ads |

If his heads are stock (even ported) GM, then you will be better off keeping your Vortec heads. They outflow the best of the older model heads.

"Vortec 5700", "L31", 64cc chamber, 170cc intake port, 1.94"/1.5" valves |
