I'm taking my engine (SBC) up to another level of performance and will be having some head work done. As I will be going to about a .512 lift I'm going to have screw-in studs installed and the springs replaced with ones capable of this high lift. I will be going to full roller rockers and have no experience with them. Is there any special work that needs done to accommodate this style of rocker? I read about stud girdles, are they needed? While I've got the heads off I want to get everything done and out of the way. Thanks for your input it is appreciated.
I would get 1.6 rockers. You will need to elongate your pushrod slot to use them. There is a too called Luis tool that does this using a hand drill. You won't need stud girdles.
No work is needed. The 1.6 is good if you are wanting a little more valve lift, but since most oe heads see very little increase over .500 lift it depends on the cam specs.
