I run copper, aluminum or carbon/carbon especially with alky. That stuff (alky) burns slower than gasoline which puts a lot of temp into the exhaust. You may want to play with more ignition lead and/or more compression to force the burn to get over with before the exhust valve opens. You may find that an external coolant hose from the pump ears into the heads under and between the paired exhaust valves will help take some heat out of this spot. The head kind of warps in this area which makes life as an exhaust to header or header adapter gasket quite a bit tougher than on gasoline motors.
