Header question - small primary tubes

I'm looking at a set of cheap SBC headers from a local guy but the primary tubes look too small to me. (1-1/2", not 1-5/8" with a 2-3/4" collector) The ports also look too oval also - I thought SBC ports were more rectangular with heavily radiused corners. (Dont have a set of heads to compare)

I need them to fit a stock '95 5.7 which will get vortec heads eventually. He claims they are for an '81 chev c/k truck.

any thoughts?

headers

I had my headers custom made by jerestahl, these people are friendly and extremely knowledgeable.Header tube size and length is very important for powerful engines.Think of headers the same way you think about intake manifolds, most all of them are an improvement over stock.Beware not to buy too big of a primary pipe header as this will not work well with a mild engine. One header is never perfect for every engine.
This is not an answer but it does help you ask a more defined question when you build a bigger engine.Small tube headers are good for stock engines for now.
