burning FG fenders
HI,i would say that as a MINIMUN 2 inches would be good,but i would personally go with a MINIMUN of 3 inches clearance. you could also use header wrap,to keep the heat down.

ceramic coated headers....
Hi,i know that ceramic coated headers run cooler,but,i dont trhink you can get by with only 1 inch.maybe,header wrap if the headers are that close....

Hood sides or no - if no, an inch or so should be fine. Mine are about 1.5 inches from my Wescott fenders and so far, no problems. On a '31 - that's where they will be, like it or not!!
