Headlamp Adjustment?

Hi All,

How do the new style composite headlamps adjust? Or for that matter, how are they retained (fastened)? I'm contemplating using some '05 Chrysler 300C lamps in my '47 Ford...

TIA!

Russ

re: Headlamp Adjustment?

Ok Russ, first off an opinion on the headlamp swap. Unless you are making a super wild, everysquare inch modified "Sniper" type custom don't put those headlamps on a 47 Ford. If you are not doing a serious "theme" change to the car they will look terribally out of place. Don't do something stupid just to be different.

The headlamp has an adjustable reflector within it. Most will have a little bubble level to level off for height. The actual aiming system for these lights cost a grand or so for the cheapest one I have seen.

re: Headlamp Adjustment?

Like stated, the headlights are adjusted by the movement of the reflector. There are usually adjustment screws that have to be accessed with the headlamp in the mounted position, which usually means that you have to have access to the top or rear of the assy. The headlights are usually mounted with 4 or so mounting tabs of some type, although I am not sure of the layout of that particular lamp.

re: Headlamp Adjustment?

So, you are saying the lamp "module" mounts solidly and the aiming adjustments are all made from within the module?

Thanks for your opinion, Martin. Nothing solid yet, just considering... Personally, I think it would look pretty fine.

re: Headlamp Adjustment?

An interesting thought is whether the 47 Ford lights would look good on the Chrysler? That can be the answer to many swaps, there has to be SOME similarity in the two styles for it to work in most cases.
