Headlight Switch knob removal for installation

Got a new Headlight Switch and I am going to install this in a round hole in my dash (already their). Before I start tugging and goin crazy, how does this knob come off? It has a rheostat when u turn the knob etc. There is a screw behind the knob that threads in and out but in order to get this thru my dash knob must come off, HELP, thanks, Dana.

Look at your new switch....There is a little steel button on it....You pull the knob out to the headlight on position, press that button and the knob and rod come the rest of the way out.
