headlight switch wiring

I'm trying to find what the letters on my head light switch stand for. They are DN,ING,B1,B2,R,H,I,D1,D2. Any help would be appreciated.

headlight switch

What kind of a switch is it? Is it from a 1948 Studebaker, a 1953 Ford truck...what?

Thats my problem, its a autozone special, I dont know what it came from, Its going in a 61 chevy apache truck with a Summit wiring harness.The trucks original harness and switch were burned in a fire,Summits instructions are kind of vague on the light switch.The switch pulls out for park lights, then out farther for low beams, and rotates for dash light dimming.I hope this helps.

If Doc or someone else with a library of wiring diagrams doesn't reply, I would use an ohmmeter and figure out when I have continuity through the switch and don't. I'm sure, if you have a lot of experience in automotive electrical wiring, you can figure it out. I do have a lot of experience in this area and personally I would just buy a switch for a 1961 Chevy Apache pickup and get a wiring diagram for same. I assume the Autozone switch was in a box of loose parts or something, why bother with it? You'll spend enough in your time to buy several correct switches and wiring diagrams.

Doc here,

You have the proper answer..get one for a 59 applepatch...

just guessing here, (ohm it out!),

DN=door neg..

ING=Instruments

B1 = HL power from battery

B2 = Parker power from fuse buss

R = rears

H = Heads (or dimmer switch)

D1 = Dome power

D2 = Dome ground

That's just guessing..a meter will prove it out though..

Doc
