Headliner

I have a 55 chevy 210 4 dr wagon , I would like to remove the headliner without damaging it, I am concerned where it is over the doors on the tack strips , how can you get it to release without damaging?

You need a tool to pull the fabric down from behind the tack strip. I would suggest an upholsterer's regulator. This tool resembles an ice pick, but is longer and thinner. Be extremely careful and work the tool over the windlace and under the tack strip and fish out the cloth that is tucked underneath. Once you get part of the cloth pulled out it will go pretty fast. Just take your time and you should be able to save the old headliner. Good luck.

The best regulators are made by C.S. Osborne. They are 10 " long and have a plastic handle. Any Upholstery shop should be able to order you one or lend you one.
