I know this has been asked before but I am a newbie and do not know what direction to go in. I have a 37 Dodge 2dr sedan. Before I bought the car someone had removed the headliner and all the cross frames that held this up. How can I go about putting a head liner in this car? Do I have to find or fabricate duplicate frame work or is there another method of installing a decent looking headliner?

Does your car have wooden bows built into the roof, or were there metal bows that held the headliner up? In a perfect world, somebody is selling the exact set of bows you need on E-Bay. Unfortunately, that's probably not going to be the case in your situation. The headliner itself is not a problem, there are lots of places to get one on the internet. Here's one place: www.kanter.com. Your best bet is to call them to order the headliner. The bows can be replaced with new ones made from 8 gauge steel wire, but you have to know how to bend them and how long to make them.

Thank you. Dont know if they were wooden or steel rods. From the look of it they were steel rods because there are holes in each side of the car that it looks like they went into. At least now I seem to have a little better direction to go as I were assuming they were wood. Thanks again Dan

If they were wood, they'd be part of the car, not something that would come out. If there are holes, the bows were steel rods.

Thanks Dan. No wooden bows built into the car. So at least now I can start looking at building the metal rods for this. This is uncharted territories for me. This is my first old street rod. Was always into drag racing and functionality won out over things like a nice interior.
