okay, spring of 05 is a maybe then. different question now

met an ex marine who was a sniper and just got out who says my killed in action figures, which are almost the same no matter where you go, are WAY OFF, he says there were thousands more killed and that special ops are not listed or accounted for. he says for example his unit lost 20 in one mortar attack on his base jan 16, 04.. this is not listed anywhere. can anybody confirm or deny?

There's some truth to it. I think the war in Iraq was totally and completely ineccesary. And that's an outsiders point of view. I'm not saying Gore woulda done it better, but I think Bush is kinda out of his mind. Nuclear Weapons in space?

You know we've hashed this war stuff over many times in many threads.

I personally don't think a draft is in the works because, for one thing, it would make the Iraq thing even more unpopular than it already is. There are some in the admin who would like to bring it back. If Bush stays in, who knows? Could happen since you can only serve two terms and he probably wouldn't care about the consequences after he's out. Of course if we were actually attacked (and I don't mean like 9/11) we wouldn't NEED a draft. Americans have NEVER shirked a "just" war. (Korea or WWII for example) The sign up lines would stretch around the block.

Sorry to disagree Sway (and others), but the US never got into WW11 until it directly affected them (Pearl Harbor). Canada, Britain and the others where fighting the Germans for 3 years before the US wanted anything to do with it.
The US does not fight for freedom, it fights when it needs something from those other countries....eg...OIL.

What I am saying is that, if the US wanted to help fight for freedom, they would have been helping in 1939, not at the end of 1941, when it was finally put into their lands (Pearl Harbor).

The United States has saved the lives of, and freed more than 1 Billion people. How many has Canada saved? France? Germany?

That is quite noble of your Prime Minister to remove himself from helping people in danger. You must be so proud.

So, what you are saying is the people committing genocide, and ethnic cleansing are right, and the Uncle Sam is the bad guy for saving lives? If you could go back in time would you save the Jews before Hitler's Final Solution? Why is that such an easy answer, but yet current comparisons are so cloudy to you? Didn't Canada vote with France to go against the U.S. effort to save the Croatians and the Bosnians from Milosevic?

The rest of the world is laughing? They look like they are laughing, but they are really in fear of the truth. We have a strong coalition made up of real allies. The countries that aren't helping us basically getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar. They are involved with the Food for Oil campaign. I bet you don't hear much about that up North eh?

You see, if you Canadians were blessed with unbiased reporting, or if you could at least think for yourselves you would see more of what is really happening in the world.

It is easy to pass judgment when you aren't looking down the barrel of a gun. You know what is really funny, you are and you don't realize it. The United States efforts to fight terrorism have helped keep you safe too, but they will terrorize your people too. You are infidels as much as we are. And you know what? The U.S. will be there to bail you out even after all of your trash talking. That is a real ally. Not the French, German, Canadian, or Russian version of an ally.

There isn't going to be a draft. Give me a break.
