Post Heat barrier insulation

Went to a presentation yesterday of a new product. It is a "paint" that is used for insulation. We are putting it on the new FedEx vans on the roof to control the environment in the package compartment. e painted one, put it in the oven at the paint booth. Outside temp was 120+ and inside temp was 85! They use this stuff on warehouse roofs. It isn't a thick tare like stuff either. I am chasing down the engineer who is in charge of this product to get name and availability. I was VERY impressed!

There's a product available through RB's Obsolete that does the same thing. It sprays or brushes on and is some sort of ceramic coating. Its called Cool Car Ceramic and Street Rodder did an article on it a few months back. Here's the link. http://www.rbsobsolete.com/NewProducts/CCC.html

That spray on stuff is a ceramic based polyurethane, or at least some of them are. Its has the texture of any regular paint and applies just the same. This has been used for many years in airplane hangers and most any large steel buildings and in the late '80's they started researching it for a home coating insulater. They are just now starting to use them on the already very efficient monolithic domes, but due to the domes design the coating on the outside of the dome would act more like a blanket instect of a sheild. The spray is also used for sound deadening in lots of competetive audio cars and trucks.
