Try your local computer store. It is used to help dissipate the heat from the cpu to the heatsink/fan. Look for "Arctic Silver" it has a high silver content as you might of guessed. If you can't get that they should have some regular old thermal compound.
It is call silicone base-heat sink compound and the Radio Shack part number is 276-1372.
This stuff is like brylcream, A LITTLE DAB WILL DO YA.
Thoroughly clean the module and mounting spot on the dizzy with alcohol, electrical circuit cleaner or NON-FLAMMABLE brake cleaner. Then put a small dab on the module and spread it smoothly covering the metal bottom on the module ONLY. Then mount the module. If you put too much it will just squeeze out any way when you tighten it down.
Thanks. Good thing I didn't know any better or one of my modules might have burned itself up.
I just googled the MSDS's for the Radio Shack Heat Sink Compound and the Permatex Silicone Dielectric Grease, and found that the RS stuff contains silicone and zinc oxide, while the Permatex stuff contains silicone and amorphous silicon dioxide. I hereby, now and forever, swear off using the sandy stuff in favor of the sunblocky stuff, for all my future module-swapping.
