You won't get any flow if you run both hoses through a T (no heat).
You should have a nipple on your water pump as well as the intake, possibly the radiator as well. Generally, any hose/nipple behind (toward rear of engine) the water pump is delivery and any hose/nipple in front of the pump is return (RWD). In other words if you hook your hoses to the pump and the radiator, you'll have little/no flow as they are both "suckers". Using the nipples on the intake and the pump are the best configuration. You get hot water (heat) the quickest and it acts as a bypass. |

Heater Hose
You should on a SBC have a place on the top of the water pump to install a hose fitting or on the side. Should be a large allen/pipe type fitting. You can get these fittings at any parts store. 1 on the intake and 1 to the water pump. That will complete the flow. BstMech right you don't want to put in a "t".

heres a pic of my heater core hose bypass
EDIT: the hose is the one that sticks up by the air filter. |

If both ends of that hose are connected to the engine, you have 2 fittings. Hook one to each pipe of the heater.

Hose?
Here is a picture of what I have. I will connect one hose to the intake, but should I put a nipple on the water neck or on the water pump? (Or does it just not make a difference)

ok do this its exactly what it did it works
look at your picture, look at the two arrows pointing left, run a hose from those two nipples to the other one. they flow together. the hole will have to be kind of long to fold around like that. approximately 2 1/2 to 3 feet long. also refer to my pic to see what the final product looks like |
