Heating/cooling question.

Hey all, I have a question in regards to my wife's 2000 Ford Windstar.

Over the winter I noticed that the front heater stopped working. The blower works, just no hot air. The rear heater works fine.

Today I recharged the air conditioner, and noticed that the rear vents are blowing cold air, but the front is not. Again, the blower works fine, just no cold air.

The Haynes manual is absolutely useless in answering my questions. My guess is maybe a blocked duct. Could there be something that I am missing?

If there is air blowing from the vents.....

Blend door actuator for the front would be my guess. It could be stuck in the middle meaning it's drawing air from both the heater and evaporator cores. A quick check would be to run the A/C from a cold start while monitoring the vent temperature. If it blows cool (cooler than outside ambient temp) and slowly gets warmer as the engine warms up, this is would indicate the blend door. If you have automatic climate control (ability to set temp rather than just hot or cold), pull the fuse to the control panel for a few minutes then replace and see if that helps.

Sweet. Thanks for the info, because my assumptions were base around what you just said. But before I end up removing the dash (I am literally afraid that I'll blow off an airbag!) I wanted to seek some advice from you all.

Again thank you for your time!
