hei+carb swap

hello i intend on removing the q jet from my 84 camro 5.0 and replacing it with a holley, i was told that i may also have to change/modify my hei setup if my igniting timing is controlled my my ecm..how do i tell if i need to change my dist and if i will get a junkyard dist, also my timing marks are hard to see, if i replace my dist does anyone know a better way of setting timing other than using a light?

on the q-jet it will probally have wires coming out of one of the corners of the carb so replace the whole carb and then with the dist. you will have to look and see if it has more than just the tach and power wires on the drivers side if it has wires coming out of the back or right side replace that with one that doesn't as it is controlled by the computer.

P.S. but only if it is legal to do it where you live
