Post hei conversion

i have just bin donated a 74 jimmy 4x4 with a 350 i want to change the distributer from the point setup it has to the hei. i already have a hei distributer from a 305(that i bought thinking it was a 350 ,o well) and was wondering if you had to have any other parts or if it just sliped in.

all chevy v8 's can interchange distributers
but some big blocks have different deck height,
you should be in the clear.

for your hei you need a 12v hot wire to plug into
the batt terminal of the cap. and a ported
vacuum source <img src="graemlins/crash.gif" border="0" alt="[crash]" />

Hopefully the distributor that you got has a vaccum advance on it as opposed to a computer controlled advance. I think hot rod or some magazine did an article on this several years ago. It really is pretty simple. You may want to consider upgrading the stock ignition module to an aftermarket unit.

i am believe it has vacume advance now i am just have to figure wich box i put it in to find out for sure thanks for the info
