Unhappy hei distributer,burned or dirty terminals in cap what causes this?

dis cap has burnt eroded terminals after theres alot of rain and if car sits for awhile,i have to scrape the cap to get the car started most of the time whats the problem?and how can i fix it other than having to buy a dis cap avery month?help

buy a distrib cap with brass terminals instead of aluminum make sure the rotor is correct for the cap. does the rotor get rusty deposits under it? then replace with a high dielectric one. these distributors tend too put out too much voltage at low rpm and burn up rotors.

THANKS BOB I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM BEFORE.ARE THE CAPS WITH BRASS EXPENSIVE? I HAVE A RUST SPOT ON MY COIL ON TOP TO IF I USE FORM A GASKET UNDER MY DIS CAP WOULD THIS GET RID OF MY RUST?LOTS OF HUMIDITY DOWN HERE IN S.C. THATS WHY I HAD TO GO TO HEI AND THROW THE POINTS OUT.
