HEI Distributor for Chevy 216?

Lemme get my dunce cap adjusted, boys.

I am converting to 12v on my 49 Fleetline. I am keeping the stock 216 engine but would like to upgrade to an HEI distributor. I think I read that HEI distributors are "optimized" for a specific application, so my questions are

1. are they application-specific
2. If so, is there a universal HEI that I can use for my 216?

Thanks for the assist. Stay tuned for the next episode of "Ask a Stupid Question With Tucker"!

Tucker

Perfect.

Thanks OneMoreTime!! There was a post in the electrical forum from 07-10-2003 that was the exact question I asked. I even found a link to the part I need to get.

Man, I love this place. I never thought being stupid could be so easy!
