HEI distributor noise ?

Aloha,
I'm curious, what kind of sound should my HEI distributor make that is normal? I think that mine is O.K. and works fine, but am curious about how it sounds. Mahalo, Al

It shouldn't make any sound.
Your Rotor may be rubbing inside the Cap. A quick inspection will tell the tale.

Aloha,
I was kind of thinking that. The cap seems a little loose and poor fitting. It's new. I will peek under there and see whats up. It makes a light humming sort of sound. I have another cap, I'll swap it out and see what happens.

Aloha,
I checked inside there and everything seemed fine. Nothing wrong. I changed the cap, still some noise. Runs good, not loud, just a whirring sound. I can live with it. Mahalo, Al

Some cheap HEIs have crappy bearings that usually poop out pretty quickly.

Aloha,
I have learned from experience that new parts are not always the same as good parts. Al
