When you say a "4 wire connector", are you saying there is a seperate harness coming from the dist. that has a flat plug with 4 connectors in it? If so, that is an HEI that is designed for an early computer system. I've never heard of twisting certain wires together to make it work. Not saying it can't be done, but an earlier HEI would be better suited for a non-computer application. New ones can be had for under $60 on eBay. I personally have bought 2 of these and and very pleased!
