HEI for GMC 305 V6

I have a friend with a GMC 305 V6, is there an HEI available for this motor?

I don't think so, as far as I know the only relationship it shares with HEI era GM V-6's is that it was made by GM and it's a V-6. I could be wrong though. Has he considered a Pertronix conversion kit?

Pertronix is not a true HEI, it's just an electronic replacement for points. It won't increase ignition energy all by itself. If that's what you're looking for, then go for it. I know a couple of people who've used them and they're real happy with them.

If you want a true HEI, check with Dave at www.davessmallbodyheis.com and see if he will do a conversion on the GMC distributor.

You can also build one:

V6 Performance ~ Built A HEI Distributor

The other alternative is to go with an electromotive distributorless ignition.

i love these engines even though they are guzzlers.

a) It makes you wonder why gmc went to all chevy power by 1969?
