HEI intermitent problem

My 65 Elky has a chevy 350 with HEI distributor, first thing in the morning it cranks but no spark. With key on I have 12 vlt at red wire and yellow wire, black has good ground. After playing around with all the connections for about 30 min, it will all of a sudden start. After that I can shut it off and start again for the rest of the day until the next morning and then it may or may not start. More often than not it won't start until I spend another 30 min playing around with it. I have tried playing with one wire at a time to isolate the problem, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Crash

Could me an intermittent module and you trying to start it finally heats it up enough so it will run. It may not be you playing with the connections that makes the difference, it may be your attempts to start it.

HEI problem

Sounds like a good possiblity because it will suddenly start and keep starting all day. i just tryed it and it still starts right up but by morning it will probably not start again. You'd think with the heat down here it wouldn't cool off that much during the night, but thats electronics for you. Thanks for the help, Crash
