have a small block chevy and it back fired last night and started cutting out and this morning it ran fine till it got warm and started doing it again. it seems to loose all power to the dist it it like turning the switch on and off and it just keeps doing it on off on off on off u can watch the tack drop and come back on. i try-ed hooking up the hot wire strait to the batt but it still does the same thing. any help would be greatly appreciated
Clean and re-attach all ground wires, body to frame, body to motor. Sand 'em down to bare metal, then gob RTV on the front and back sides to prevent oxidation of the connections.
unplug the pickup leads and connect an ohm meter to the pickup then gently pull on the wires and watch the meter to see if you loose the circuit ,if so replace the pickup .
Sounds like a module as generally the pickup will not be effected by heat as quickly. You can take the module to be tested, if you do make sure they heat it up good by testing it several times. If you do replace it make sure you put the grease on the new module and be sure it is tight.
Please dont buy an Autozone or other replacement piece of crap. Look for someone who stocks Delco and get the right one. The OEM modules are far superior to most of the aftermarket ones.
jmark you nail it whe i unplug the vacume can it runs fine. thanks for all the help guys
