HEI problem
I have a small block Chevy with the HEI. About once a month I have to remove my distributor cap and wipe some oil or carbon off of the rotor clip and the *** from the coil. What is causing this?
Thanks |

This sounds like it could be a crankcase ventilation/blowby problem, JMO are you running a pcv valve ? and how many miles is on the engine /
Oh and welcome to the site. also just how old is the distributer anyway ?Cole

I do have a PCV valve, the motor has about 40,000 miles on it and it was a new crate motor and a new HEI distributor about 10 years ago. It is in a 51 Ford Pickup that I cruise around in on the weekends. This problem has been around for at least the last 20,000 miles. I have changed the distributor cap and rotor just recently. I changed the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor all once a while ago. I changed the PCV value just recently also.
