HEI Wiring Please help
HI, guys this is my first post. i own a 64 Chevy 2 i have rebuilt a 350/350 combo the engine is bored .06 im running vortech heads and an edelbrock performer intake with a edelbrock 650 cfm carb. I have a pretty good cam setup not the best but its good for now. My question is: i would like to swap my HEI distributor to an external coil HEI because its quite tight by my firewall. i need to know if there would be any wiring changes (other then the coil). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:D
I have a small body MSD HEI in my 40 Ford coupe with a SBC. I prefer it to a stock GM one because it has both the adjustable vacuum advance and mechanical advance. About $250 from Summit ........ :D |

Doc here :pimp:
Unless the coil requires a resistor (and I think most after~market HEI's with external coil DO NOT) Your wiring will be the same as your stocker HEI. Does the new one Have a "BRAINBOX" or is it all contained within the distributor? Should Be A "plug and pray " Swap out! Check to be sure your plug wires will handle the new high tension spark, and your plugs are gaped accordingly. and you should be gold! Doc :pimp: |
