HEI wiring question

I'm doing the wiring on my dragster and need some help. I'm running an HEI distributor with a remote coil cap. The dist. has 3 wires coming from it - orange (12 volts when ignition is on?), black (ground for the coil? - do I still need to take it to ground?) and brown (tach signal?). Does this sound correct? Thanks

You have the wires correct.

Make sure when you hook up that power wire that you are hooked to a full 12 volts. If you are switching from a points ignition than the power wire you disconnected was only 9volts as they are ran through a resistor wire.

By pass the resistor wire and cut into a SWITCHED 12 volt wire under the dash. You will be good to go!!!!
