I joined this forum because there seems to be many active members with a lot of knowledge...

I just purchase a SataMiniJet 3000 B...I plan to paint (its a restoration project that than just painting) an old lathe with it (and many other thins that come up).. The paint is a 2 part urethane epoxy from Rustoleum that I got for a good price..

I have experience using Imron, but I was more of a helper than being responsible..

My questions.

1. With the Mini Jet, apparently you can do a flat paint line and a cone..Which and why?

2. The instructions say only 29psi is needed..so I should adjust my regulator to 29...I didnt get the attachment that control's psi..

3. I got the aluminum cup over the plastic cause thats what the Sata guy suggested.. is one better than the other?

4. Is there a link or a thread that covers the basics on gun care? The instruction booklet says to clean the gun before initial use, but I am not positive on the best way to do it.

5. Any other advice? I have used paint guns, but never a quality one and I would like to do it proper this time.

1.the "flat line" is called a fan,used to cover a larger area on the pass, dont think ive ever gone to the cone mode.....
2.well depending on how long (and what diameter) the hose is 29 at the tank may not be enough... pressure is something we all play with based on a bazillion variables
3.The aluminium is fine
4.dissasemble it completly
5.Check out you tube videos, lots of great info there, also check out Kustom Kulture Lounge. seems to me there are some hot rod related books out there related to painting, they will be very helpfull
