Helmuts

I didn't know just where to put this so here goes.

Is an open face helmut Snell M2005 SFI 41.1A legal for say NHRA 11.50 bracket.???

Also is a SFI jacket required if a power adder is used for a 11.50 car.?? Ex 6-71 blower.

This is just to run a couple of pure street cars at a test and tune.

An interclub match race for dinner. haha

Thanks

According to what I can find in my rule book, helmet is good. Jacket isn't needed unless you run 11.49 or faster, same time roll bar and driver restraint system(4 point belts) are needed.

I couldn't find any special stipulation related to the jacket on a blown entry, but I do know some tracks tend to tech blown cars a lot harder, they expect it to be fast and like to see lots of safety stuff or good stuff, like braided lines around the blower, rear mounted electrical shut-off switch, driveshaft loop, etc.

You might want to send a PM to Techinspector1, he techs at Firebird Raceway in Arizona, and is/was an NHRA event tech.

Yes. You don't need a full face until 9.99..... or...... in a blown open car or blown Funny Car. Blown closed car is OK with open face to 10.00 et quarter mile. Although it is not addressed specifically that I know of in the rulebook, some tech guys might start giving you grief over your open face helmet at 135 mph. We have encountered some of this with the Super Street class of cars. They run on a 10.90 index, but many of them exceed 135 mph, so they have to step up to 9.99 equipment.

Yes, 13.99 to 10.00, 3.2A/1 jacket if OEM firewall or min. 0.024" full steel firewall. 13.99 to 10.00, 3.2A/5 jacket and 3.3/1 gloves if non OEM firewall or non min. 0.024" steel firewall.

Now, as Eric pointed out, some tracks will institute their own fosdick rules, so it's always best to phone ahead and talk with one of the tech guys if you can.
