Help with 35 Chevy Standard 4 door

My goal is to build an old school hotrod. I want a straight axle, not sure what will work. I like the ones that I see in a lot of 32-34 fords. As far as the rear end I have heard that a 67 nova will fit it or a 9in Ford . I am doing away with all of the wood and putting in steel tubing. I am having a hard time with the rocker panel area because they are gone. As for the engine, I was thinking a 350 or a 283. I was given a 283 but I have never supped one up before. I don't know much about them. The trans I am thinking a Muncie 4 speed or Borgs Warner. Any help, tips or ideas will be greatly appreciated. I am kinda beating my head against a wall here.......WILL

Take note that the front axle on your car is "like" the ones on the Fords but it uses two parallal springs instead of one transverse spring the Ford has.

transverse vs parallel

can I use the transverse under my car with a little modification? I like the way that looks instead of the parallel.

It isn't "easy" but sure it can be done and is often done on GMs which originally came with parallel leaves.
