Did the Trans Ams ever have a 350 chevy motor in them? I have a 78 or 79 coming home in April and I don't know what auto manual to buy, chevy for the motor or Pontiac for the car. PLEASE HELP

I never had one but.....

I heard some Pontiac's or even Buick's may have had the Chevy engine installed in them at the factory?? You will need Both the Pontiac and the Chevy manuals to really help yourself with your project. But I'd look for the manual for the 78-79 TA as it may already have that info in it. Look on E-bay or go to Borders and search for a manual. I had a 75 TA but it had the 400 Pontiac engine it it, traded it for a Harley a few years ago..

tm454 is right, some came with Chevy engines. No Trans-Am's though.

It get interesting though, engines available are:
For the 78 Firebird AND Firebird Esprit. Buick 231 V-6, Chevy 305 and 350.
For the 78 Firebird Formula. Chevy 305 & 350, Pontiac 400, & Olds 403.
The 78 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am came with an Oldsmobile 403 , and a Pontiac 400.

For the 79 Firebird AND Firebird Esprit. Buick 231, Pontiac 301, Chevy 305 & 350.
For the 79 Firebird Formula. Pontiac 301 & 400, Chevy 305 or 350, and Olds 403.
The 79 Trans-Am came with a choice of the Pontiac 301, Olds 403, or the Pontiac 400.

ANY manual you get for this car should have all of these engines listed for those years.
