Im redoing my headliner the car is a 99 so i have a preformed headliner .. ok well i wanted to do flames in it where could i get the close cell foam to do it, could I go to a regular car parts store, would they have it ? if not could you helpme out with a place to order it from.
I just recently flamed the headliner in my truck, I used this for foam . It came in a huge sheet, and was pretty easy to deal with. You can check out my project journal if you would like to see how I did mine.
Heres a pic of mine when I finished, I used the illusion faux leather from that same place that I bought the foam from.
I flamed the headliner in an old suburban with a bic lighter once. It didn't look too good when I got done but it wasn't hanging down on my head anymore either.
Yeah I used the 1/4" foam. Just be sure to use the 3M 90 spray adhesive, and not the 3M 77. or it will start sagging on the first hot summer day. Also when you work the material into the flames start from the center of the flames and work your way out, but be careful not to stretch the material. Of course you could just always go with willowbilly's way of redoing the headliner, Just besure to take the pictures before the fire goes out!
Good luck with it
