Hey i'm off to look at a '66 Chevy truck its a C20 Fleetside, was an Arizona truck so i'm told its pretty solid & come's with a 292 six & 4 speed stickshift.
Just want it for an every day vehicle so can ya spare me some of your experience! is there anything special i should look for, i'm not a total retard but hands on experience is probably the best buyers guide.
thanks in advance for any help!

Rust around the wheel wells, that bodystyle is notorious for rust in those places. I know I got a '72 K-5 blazer with the removable top. Nice, but thats the first place rust starts.
When Hot Rod It's in trouble, I am not slow, it's hip hip hip and away I go.
Most of the older Chevs have the same rust spots. It is obvious because you see so many repair panels in the truck rags. Wheel wells, door sills/rockers, and cab corners seem to be the worst. The up side is thst there are about 6-10 places that you can get parts for these rigs. Chevy Duty, The Truck Shop, Golden State Pick Ups to name a few.(I'm not real happy how the last one does business. They got big and forget things) If you need some contacts, I can e-mail you a list from home later on. The drive train in that truck is so standard it isn't funny. I never really concern myself with the bed, after all, its a TRUCK. It was a truck before it was a hot rod or cruiser. Other than that, it's a 66, so you will have everything that goes with that. Ball joints, wheel bearings, drips, leaks, dents, etc. Fora driver and the price is right, it would interest me. But, Madd luvs trucks. So does my Jack Russel, Ruby.
Keep us in the loop

Send me your address. I'll send you a Chevy Truck hat. Way kool amigo! I agree with Helrazr. Ain't nothing to having a new ride in the drive. No worries if it's a beater, it's soon to be a streeter! Tally Ho!
Hotrodit, sorry haven't posted before, just saw your topic. My driver is a 66 C20, Mine has 283, also with granny low 4 speed. A C20 is a 3/4 ton but most 1/2 ton parts will interchange. You should have 8 lug wheels, 1/2 ton had 6. My truck has 113,000 HARD miles, Its used here on the farm to hall hay, manure, whatever and pulls a car trailor and hauls parts to flea mkts. Friends say they feel sorry for it, but I think it is happy doing what it was designed for. Has a little rust in bottom of doors and lower rear quarter of front fenders that I should fix someday. Best thing, they are dependable. LMC has good list of parts, they're not cheap but good co. to deal with. Luck with the new ride and if I can be of any help let me know.
Jack
mmm, glad to hear i'm not on my own & yes it has 8 lug wheels & some light rot in exactly the same places.
Thanks for replying fellas , i won't be on for a couple of days going on a rod run organized by a UK magazine just for nostalgic rods, should be fun & a good **ss up.
