HELP! Carrier shim question

Well Im doing my first rear end gear swap and all seem to be going good so far. My question is what is the best way to get the carrier shim in there. I had to tap on the carrier about a million times to get it to sit in there. is there a better way to squeeze everything in?

Without a housing spreader, NO.
Try rolling the carrier and shims into the housing at the same time. Takes some coordination, and effort, but you can do it. The big problem comes in when you tap on the shim too often and it cracks. Many gear warehouses have adjustable shim packs amd eout of machine steel. Much better gig.
Do not **** the carrier. Life will get worse.
Good luck
