help choosing rear end gears.

Truck is a 1977 c10 with a factory 10 bolt and 2:73's. Ive installed a 700r4 with a 2500 rpm stall. I eeally do t know where to start. I have thought about going with 3:73's but been told its way to low while using a 700r trans. The truck is not a daily nore will it hit the highway but it will be driven around town a few times a month. Can anyone recomend a set of gears for me. Thanks.

Most trucks run taller tires than cars, so I would probably go with the 3.73. The overdrive transmission will work well with that.

The '77 should have a truck 12 bolt, not the 10 bolt. If you have the 10 bolt then it must have been swapped at some time.

Never knew that! Learn something new everyday I guess. The rear tires im running are 295/50/15 DR's. The only real plans for the truck is car shows and stop light to stop light "per say". Any other opinions to be had?

I have 3:73 gears in my 82 C10, with a TH350 trans, 3000 stall and 275/60/15 tires. It works well for me. Your cruising RPM's, I think will be lower than mine since you have an overdrive trans.
