Please help !!!!

I had this posted in electrol forum, but no one replied to it , so im trying here, My son has a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 ext cab truck engine 2.7 His headlights only work if you pull back on the light control switch ,which is the flash position. I bought another light control switch, and it still does the same thing. all fuses and relays are ok, with the lights turned on ,theres only fire at top terminals on both headlights., theres 3 terminals on the headlight bulb. any advice would be great.

Dose this have Day Time Running Lights?
If not.
The only thing in the circuit that I can find, that would match your description of the problem, is the control circuit to the headlamp relay from the head lamp switch. The combination switch has two parts
1-headlamp control, 2-dimmer function. When you flash you H-beams the HL-relay is energized momentarily. When you turn the headlamps on it's energized until you turn them off.
Confirm the HD-relay is commanded on during both selections. There is a splice in the harness making the connection for the two functions to energize the relay independently.
Good luck, Cheers

bad wire bad switch or bad connector is the only thing it can be. Does the headlight circut use a relay. Many newer cars do the switch only carrys a 12v source to switch the relay for high low and both which is what you should get if you pull the switch backwards.
