Help with engine
Hi, If this truck is a 1991 has it had the motor replaced before? The Vortec motors didn't come out until 1996. Well is your mechanic trustworthy. He should have done compression test on each cylinder. (everywhere there is a spark plug) If there is no fire to #1 and #8 cylinder it could be something simple as a bad distributor cap and rotor button. It also could be a bad ignition coil.
