If you can get a running, complete LS 6.0L for $550- do it. Thats a better deal than a L31. I suppose it could have a 502.

You should see "5.7L GAS" if it's a 350, "5.0L Gas" if a 305 that could have been swapped into it. If the engine is original it will likely be a 4-bolt block.

Now, why would the fact that the engine was in a 4WD vehicle mean that YOU had to make your vehicle 4WD? The engine has the tranny bolted to it- it could care less what goes on from the bellhousing flange back, AFA 2- or 4WD.
on a side not, 4WD 88-98 (GMT-400) chevy have a sideways oil filter adapter, this should be changed out to the standard 2WD or Car one.

I had a 6.0 in a 2500hd truck and an 8.1 in a 2500hd 4x4, both had crazy amounts of torque. I wish i still had that 8.1 even with its 6 mpg (on a good day) lol.

Some 880 blocks came with a flat tappet cam also. Mine came out of a '96 1-Ton cargo van. It had the old swirl port TBI heads and TBI. It is fully machined for a mechanical fuel pump.

well I just got back, the motors runs good, no smoke, engine looks pretty clean, it is missing a serp. pulley wich is causing about 1/5 of the belt to shred off.. turns out its apparantly from a 1999 truck. The guy said its the same motor that was in the bed of his truck that had a 880 casting. its 550$ for the motor minus the accessories. it defenantly had the vortec air intake. guy said it was a 350 also. i dont think its an ls or anything.

was the throttle body on top or in the front? On top is a regular sbc, in the front is LS.

Just because they look the same, doesn't mean they are. i would have still checked the casting number.
