Doc here,

For what purpose?

A display or something?

Not just ANY regulator or Diode pack is going to play with any alternator..

Also, internal or external regulator? Worlds of difference..If external, Mechanical or electronic?

If you just want a display or something get a GM rebuild kit at the parts store, for about $15 .. has the following:

If you are gathering parts to use at school as educational aids in a shop class, then I would go look at a wrecking yard, or ask at a repair garage. I have kids come around my shop looking for stuff like that and if I have an old take off that they can use, I give it to them.

In our town we still have a generator and starter rebuilding shop. Many agricultural communities still do. Those guys usually have mountains of old diode packs and regulators.

hope this helps.

Doc here,

Now there is a dying art..Like TV and VCR repair..

It getting too cheap nowadays to just RR new / rebuilt from the Zombie, then it is having a quality rebuild!

BTW:

Mikey,

Sorry I missed you guys at Pleasanton,... but my youngest came dragging in (haven't seen him in 5 years , since Iraq, and a wedding in Brazil..) and came to stay for the week while on the move to New York..It would seem now, I have a rommie every 2 or so weeks as a crash-pad until he gets settled back there from a San Diego storage locker..
