help on finding out what a 71 gmc sprint had

My wife bought a 71 GMC Sprint,we cant run the vin number because of it didnt tell us anything!WE want to find out what motor it had from factory and everything we have tried says we have to have the build sheet! There is not one in the car anywhere!I rebuilt a 350 s/b and purchased new motor mounts when i went to install the engine, they wouldnt hook up to the frame mounts, the only mounts that would work is ones for a 454 b/b! Car has a 12 rear, all the ss package, tilt wheel, power disk brakes,a/c bucket seats full console, and had a 3/8 fuel line!Factory tach ect.! Is there anywhere i can go to maybe get a copy of the build sheet for this car?We are at a loss and very curious about the car thats all! Thanks for your help Steve

71 sprint

Hello, I'm surprised you cannot get the engine code from the VIN as I have a 72 elcamino and I found from the code letter there for the engine, hp & carb.
also if you are looking for the build sheet did you look in the seat springs? thats where they are originally placed and you'll need to remove the seat to see it & remove it. I'm not sure which seat with 2 buckets would have it, but ofcourse it may have been removed yrs ago. Goodluck

If it was an SS, chances are it had a big block. The big block and small block engine mounts should be the same.
