400 small blocks use a externally balanced flywheel so it must be used with the 400 engine so it looks like you`ll have to do some light grinding for clearences. If you bolt on a flywheel that is not balanced to a 400 you`ll destroy the main bearings. You could get a balance plate then bolt on a smaller flywheel, but you`d have to use a straight pattern starter. It`s said the balance plates don`t work real well and will cause the engine to be a shaker.

I dint change flexplates... the 400 stay with its same flexplate because of the external balance, and the 350 keeps the same flexplate.. but the 350 flexplate its rubbing on the inside of the transmission , right now I will take a pic of this and post it here
