Help with g/f's car.

My g/f has a 2000 Alero 2.5 Twin cam 4 banger. Automatic, has around 75K on it.

She was driving, gets to the bottom of a hill and she gave it gas to go up the hill and it didnt want to gain speed. Then she said all of a sudden her steering/brakes locked up. She used her ebrake to stop.

He dad said he got it to die. Then it wouldnt start, he said it acted like it was flooded. Are these symptoms of a bad fuel pump? Any ideas.

Somewhere on the fuel rail there (should) be schrader valve that you can check for pressure with. You can have someone turn the key to the run position while pressing the valve in. If gas only gurgles out, chances are it's the pump. If it sprays out like a geyser, you have good pressure, but maybe not enough flow, indicating the filter as a possible culprit. Should still start however and just lack power if it seems to have good pressure, but the filter is suspect. This is just a quick test to determine a possible fuel problem. It's not gonna eliminate it completely without a pressure guage. But if the fuel only gurgles or dribbles out, you know it's fuel delivery at fault.

Of course check it for spark too.

Well i drove it, it drove fine. I could not find a a point to hook in. I know what to look for but i just couldnt find it. Could it be bad gas? AKA water in gas.
