Help indentifying/fixing electric wiper switch in '52 Chevy

Hi all:

I have electric wipers in my pickup and have always had problems with the switch--it spins endlessly in both directions and you have to position it very precisely to get the wipers to run. About a month ago, the wipers stopped working altogether.

I checked, and there's power to three of the wires (the other one appears to be a ground.) I also tried jumping from the powered wires to the ground in an attempt to get the wipers to activate, with no success. I'm no electrical wizard, though, and I know that it's probably not that simple.

So my questions:

1: Is there any way I can figure out if the switch is my problem by maybe bypassing it and getting the wipers to turn on? I assume it's the switch, but am not certain.

2: Can anyone tell me how to find a replacement switch? The only writing I can find on it appears to say CULS USA BOSTON and there is also the letter F. Sorry about the quality of the photos--not much light in my garage this time of year...

Thanks for the input...

Kyle

That year originally had vacuum wipers. So this must be a conversion.
One source for parts is www.forwhatyouneed.com and maybe the wiring diagram so you can test to determine what to purchase.

It looks like you have a universal wiper switch. The four posts should be labeled B(battery)(red wire) L(low speed)(white?) H(hi speed)(yellow?) and P(park)(blue wire)
Universal Switch

You may be able to find a similar universal wiper switch at your local auto parts store.

If you have power to the battery wire when the ignition switch is on, jump the battery wire to either the L or H wires and if the wipers work then the switch is bad. If the wipers do not work when you jump the L or H wires, then I would suspect that the wiper motor may have a problem.

Thanks for the input. I jumped it like you said and got nothing.

I figured it wouldn't be that easy. Looks like I'm gonna have to pull out the gauges and have a look at the motor
