Help in Making Baffle Inserts for Collectors

I need some help in making baffles for over-the-fender headers on an open frame model A coupe. I would like the units to fit inside the collector and use the collector reducer to hold in place, thers are 2.5" OD. The headers are from Speedway ceramic coated on a sbc 400. Can I use heavy grade stainless steel wool used for cleaning? How about a 3/8' threaded rod with
steel or aluminum discs drilled with holes spaced apart then inserted into collector? Noise level?....anything less than open headers is fine!
Thanks for any suggestions.

I've only heard 1 car that had the baffle type inserts and they were much quiter than open headers. They all look to be pretty simple to Fab. Something like these>

I run auger mufflers ( first link) on my 460hp 400 small block.
I use 2 1/2 per side with the center open and with a crossover.

3 was too quiet, Capping the center tube made it sound really weird.
