NAIRB, go to dBforums-redirects.
I had a similar problem earlier this year and I had to edit my registry and a bunch of files to straighten it out. |

This is a link to a real good free program Spybot .
This program works very well. Just remember to use the update function to keep up to date. Beside getting rid of spyware it will also show other issues like Internet Explorer temp files and cookies. Registry changes, etc.. Another good free program to get rid of spyware http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html To read about spyware look on this board Wilders Security Forum . They have a good main page also here . Other good reading here Are you using a cable modem, dsl, what? Who is your internet service provider? Let me know if any of this helps, also if you have any more questions please ask. |

Trendmicro has a free online virus scanner at: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/.
After cleaning up any viruses, you should check out a program called spybot search and destroy. It is also free but they like donations: SpyBot download site Good luck! |

Gotta stay off them "porn" sites, ol' buddy..................don't ask how I know.
Adaware and spybot are both excellent. IIf you are running XP, you can "restore" to an earlier date, before this started happening.

Whoa don't blame NAIRB blame his kid(s), those porn sites really can screw you over. I have used spybot, I don't really care for it, it didn't do the job, it's nice for a freebie but won't solve your problems. A feature in my McAfee Home Security Suite knocks that crap out.

Whoa NAIRB, sounds like you need to slow down on the "free" downloads. Many lf these so called free programs, even the antivirus, spyware and adware programs contain their own nasty little routines to tell the creators what you are up to. Remember, everything costs something in life and if you do find something free it is usually worth what you pay for it.
Go to help with jetsearch.org scroll down to Response Number 4 and that should help you out some. Or you can send your computer over to me and I will fix it for you in my spare time. |

The last i heard about XP and their problems is to use MicroSofts recimendations.
To stop most if not all spyware from installing without your hitting a button(yes it can happen now and worse) is to turn off all Active-X in both XP and Internet Explorer. The hackers are now using MS own Active-X code to install things to your computer just by you going to a website or opening mail. The othe MS recomendation is to use the web browser Mozilla. http://www.mozilla.org/ Its better and much safer. It automaticly imports everything from IE including email, bookmarks and passwords. It has tabbed browsing and its own popup blocker. That a good virus checker and a good firewall shoud be about 90% effective against everything. Sorry if that doesn't make everyone feel safe but I have no real respect for MS and just don't use it any more. I got tired of fighting the junk on the web. |

That is it! That is the solution, download even more freeware onto your computer. you know the only reason that people like Major Attitude program these things is that they are nice guys and want to protect the world from evildoers. The only reward they seek is the good that they do.
You just do not know for sure, these dogooders could be watching every keystroke. You could be fooled, even if you are a computer "expert". The only way to know for sure is to decompile the program and go though the code by yourself. That means tearing down the program and looking at the parts much like you would tear down an engine. And just think my Mother still thinks that I am still wasting my computer degree messing around with old cars. pzatchok, mozilla has one big advantage over IE. Most of the hacks take advantage of weaknesses in IE, They are not targeted to other browsers. Supply and demand, IE is the most widely used browser.
