I never liked the 80's Camaro's very well unti my friend bought one. Then after driving it and really getting to check it out, I kinda dug it. I really liked the OD tranny. They make real nice streeters. HG

I don't like the third? gen. comaros cause they are ugly, but I've seen some really fast ones.

After '73 I lost intrest. Was never a fan of the '74-'81 , but the '80's are growing on me with the right additions. from '82 on I just ignored them. All F bodies got ugly in my opinion after '82.

I own a second gen camaro (78 z), and I have to say, even having one in my collection, I still don't like the body style of them all that much. Too "smokey and the bandit" for me. Everytime I think of it, I picture Burt Reynolds.

But hey, the price was right ($0.00) and they are cheap and fun to build up and run.
If you want more info (And if you haven't checked it already) head over to the second gen club at www.nastyz28.com

Personally, I like the earlier first gens.
A buddy of mine at work drives a third gen camaro, and I'll give him credit, it's a decent looking street car, but those and the fourth gens just look too small from the outside.

Car Craft had an issue where they rated the best to worst Camaros. I'll try to dig it up and post some of them, but keep in mind that it is just another matter of opinions.

With all camaro's 1st generation camaro's from 67-69 were the best they look great and they are rare cars, in those years they only weighed around 3000 pounds. The second generatoin camaro's look nice are semi rare but wiegh around 3500 pounds. The 3rd generatoin camaro's I really dont like. The main thing I dont like about them. Is that they are to comon. Right now they fall into the poor and crappy class in cars cause of its age. They are to cheap to be worth restoring, so owners drive them like junk. Those kinds of cars arent worth new paint. So no one paints them. A totally restored 3rd gen camaro is worth less then 3 grand. So people dont fix them up cause they wont get a return in there advestment so you see run-down one's all the time. Those camaro's running in good shape go for 500 - 1000 bucks. SO you see them run-down all the time.

I love the look of the first gen.I think that they are the best ones made.I did'nt really care for the look of the second gen much until I bought one.Its also a 1980 camaro Z/28.After driving it and having one I appreciate it alot more. Now I don't think they are all that bad.Infact I would have to say they are my second favorate style of camaros(all second gen's).I don't really care about the third gens right now, like the previous post said, there is just to many of them,I agree you can make them look nice and everything but I would rather drive something less popular. And the fourth gens, well I think they are pretty good and all.But I like my older camaros better. They just don't build them like that no more But hey,as long as it's chev its all good

I wish I still had my 67 RS (so do my kids). 67 and 68 were the best. It went downhill from there. I hated the little fake louvre things they stuck on the 69's. I had the 300 hp 327, which unfortunately badly needed a rebore and I badly needed wheels to get to work, so (this should be in the post with stupid things we do) I traded for a brand new (cringe) 1973 Pinto.

Gen. 2 Camaro's got too heavy and ugly. The doors (which generally were so heavy the hinges wore out right away) were huge and unwieldy. The nose was too pointy.

Gen. 3 = cheap crappy workmanship that was also high on the ugly meter.

The newer ones are too wide and bulbous, but are better (I guess) than 2 and 3.

That's my $.02 worth.
