I need some advice on how to shrink a 4-6" spot and a 2" spot on the side of the quarter panel, of my '27 coupe. It had a dent (a few) that someone just put mudd over. I have cleaned it out, and use a dolly & hammer to pop it back out. But now it is a light bubble out ward, that just pops in and out, and won't hammer down.
I believe it needs to be shrunk back to shape. I have never done this before, and would like some info on what's, the best way to do it.
I am not someone that does body work, but I'm not afraid to try doing it. I am doing everything I can to get the body back into good shape again, I am self learning (with advice from others) on how to do what needs to be done. I have replaced the quarter corners, hammered out and welded up a gas neck, and a antenna hole, which all have turned out good. I flush (using spot welds) welded the parts in, not lapped them. I look at it this way, the worst thing that can happen, is to have to have someone fix it, which is where it sits now. It will end up at a body shop in the end, to go over what I have done, or missed. I will shoot primer on myself, as I go, but I won't be the one to paint it.
Thanks, Pat
