Post help with a picking a tranny for my rat.

Ok guys heres my situation, I really need a tranny for my 69 cst chevy. heres what I have so far, 3.73 rear end out of a silverado,3 inch drop
396 bored 30 over, dart heads edl rpm 2-0 manifold
holley 750 double pumping street avenger carb, headers jacobs ignition.

the cam in my truck is a roller,
.50 563/578lift. lope sep 112. 214/220 dur.
the truck had the 4 speed 77 mm tranny, so I have no usable trans for this truck. I would like a 4-5 speed trans, or should I use a auto? and if so what type and what stall should I run?
I have never owned a bb before, so this is all new to me. my goal is to be able to roll it out on the weekend and have some smoking fun.
also I want reliability.
thanks for the info and help.

Cool

With the 3.73 rear gears you may want to look for a built up OD automatic (700-R4) or a 5-speed OD manual. The rear ratio will help with all the hills but on the flats your fuel economy will suck unless you use an overdrive. If you do a lot of your driving in the hills you might want to use an RV torque convertor which will reduce roll back from starts on hills or if you want a higher RPM off the line go for an 1800-2400 stall. Have fun and enjoy.
