Help with power door locks

My husband owns a l988 chevy silverado 1500 truck that I took to get a keyless entry put on it to surprise him when he comes back from Iraq. Now we have a major problem. I bought a keyless entry system that my son and I tried to put in ourselves, and we took the wires out of the lock switch and don't remember how they go back and now when we try to lock the doors, it will either lock or unlock, but it won't do both. I was charged by a mechanic in town $75.00 to tell me that he didn't know what was wrong. I really need to get this truck fixed fast. My husband is coming home in 2 weeks, and I want his truck fixed. Does anyone out there know what could be wrong, or how the wiring goes back on? I could really use a colored diagram if someone out there could help, I would be really appreciative. Need info very fast. Contact me at maj_wife58@hotmail. Thanks a bunch.

Doc here,

I could find no reference to a remote entry on a stock diagram for an 88 1500...Except for a fuse location..another General Misery state secret I think..

I did find a schematic for a "Bare Bones" no frills aftermarket type circuit, I'll keep looking for you, meantime maybe this will help to give you some direction to troubleshoot with a DMM for power and ground..

I noted this diagram also works in one direction only too..
To get a motor reverser to work on a relay or a switch , you need a double pole double throw relay or switch...

Hook your motor or actuator to the center wiper (movable contact) power and ground to the normally OPEN contacts to mate to power and ground on the motor (red to red, black to black) so that when you hit the NO side the lock opens..

Then on the switch or relay, install jumper wires from the normally open to the normally closed side,in an "X" pattern (so the power is reversed on those NC to Black motor, Black power to Red motor)

This will allow the motor to run backwards..Or "Close" the lock..

That's the basics anyway of what you should have or be looking for..

Hope it helps a bit...

Maybe someone else has a better diagram here..
