I am looking to replace the rear end in my 1970 GMC K10 truck. I was told by the previous onwer that the rear is a 2.73 gear. It is a full slip. I want a 3.27-3.55 posi. I have never worked on a rearend so would not like to change gears and dif. myself. I am also on a limited budget so will probably turn to a junkyard unit. Anybody know what years/engine sizes/suspensions would be compatible with my 1970GMC K10 coil all around.
Thank you very much |

For clarification I mean “what years/engine sizes/suspensions” should I look for in a donor truck. For instance I know that they put lower gears in K20 that may have the same suspension my truck has.

Digtaz, did not know Jimmys had coils on the rear in 70, so you are in luck. Any 69 thru 72 Chevy 1/2 ton should bolt right in, axle and all or you can just change out the 3rd member. Same years Jimmy should work too if you can find the coils. K 20 will not work unless you want 6 bolt wheels.

Trees sorry I put K10 instead of C10 I have a pickup not a Jimmy. It has 6 lug wheels. I am thinking of a disk brake conversion for the front so if I can find a truck with disk front and 3.27-3.55 rearend that would be cream!

After reading it a second time I think he was refering Jimmy = GMC. I thought he ment GMC Jimmy = Chevy Blazer that kind of Jimmy. I was trying to relay that I have a 1970 GMC Pickup truck 2WD. That is why it has coils all around. sorry for the confusion
